Boating in Central Texas
The Highland Lakes behave differently from one another. Lake Travis is a flood-control reservoir whose level can swing dramatically between drought and flood years; Lake LBJ and Lake Austin are held near a constant level. On Travis, that means boats get stranded high and dry on docks during droughts or damaged when the water comes up fast.
